Like many, I am concerned about the state of world media and politics, which have been drowned in an impenetrable language of spin and manipulation. My own views are fairly typical of urban mainstream Australia - I'm a social liberal with a humanitarian streak who believes that people should take responsibility for their own actions and that good government policy helps the economy and society.
I'm hoping that this journal can become a worthwhile source of opinion - although I can never guarantee that it will be anything more than my opinion, only that I will stand up for what I believe in and try to sort the facts from the whiz and blur and spin. I'll sometimes get it wrong. That's why you're welcome to comment if you disagree with something I say.

Really begs the question what would have happened if it wasn't just a gun!
The merciful thing that comforts me on the scariness of that possibility is that it's very unlikely anyone would want to bomb Canada. We just don't seem to inspire that level of passion, even in our own citizens.
